The latest fortune global 500 list was released on 22nd July. In terms of number, 129 of the world’s 500 largest companies are from China, surpassing the United States (121) for the first time in history.

List shows that 3 Chinese companies are in the top 10. Wal-mart is the world’s biggest company for the last six years. Sinopec second, Shell rose to the third, PetroChina and Nation Grid are the fourth and fifth, Saudi aramco is ranked sixth, Bp, ExxonMobil, Volkswagen and Toyota rounded out the top 10.

According to Brand Finance’s 2019 global 500 report, American brands worth $3.1242 trillion, accounting 45.4% of the total value of global 500. Chinese brands worth $1.3074 trillion, accounting for 19% of the top 500 total, second only to America. Japan ranked third with 6.1%, Germany fourth (5.8%), France fifth (4.5%), and the UK sixth (3.3%). Brands from other countries and regions accounted for 15.8%.

On July 6, 2019, “liangzhu ancient city ruins” in China was approved to be included in the world heritage list at the 43rd meeting of the world heritage committee. So far, the total number of world heritage sites in China has reached 55, ranking first in the world.

Among the 55 world heritage sites, 37 are world cultural heritage sites, 4 are world cultural and natural heritage sites and 14 are world natural heritage sites, ranking the first among the countries on the world heritage list.

The latest world university rankings for 2020 were released this morning by Quacquarelli Symonds, an international higher education research institute. Tsinghua university and Peking University are ranked 16th and 22nd respectively, the highest ranking ever achieved by the two universities on the list.

The QS World University Rankings 2019, released by Quacquarelli Symonds, put the Massachusetts institute of technology on top for the seventh straight year.

China has totally 11 universities in the world’s top 100, accounting No.3, after United States and United Kingdom. Tsinghua University topping the list of Chinese universities at number 17 and Peking University at number 30.

According to the statistics by the Ministry of Education of People’s Republic of China, in 2018, a total of 492,185 foreign students from 196 countries and regions are studying in 1004 universities, research institutes and other teaching institutions in China.

On May 2nd 2019, the Thames Higher Education Asia University ranking was released. Tsinghua University surpassed the Singapore National University, which ranked the top three times before. This is also the first time that Chinese universities have reached the top of the ranking.
