China has become one of the most popular study abroad destinations for international students because of its long history and exciting culture. In 2018, a total of 492,185 foreign students from 205 countries and regions are studying in 1004 universities, research institutes and other teaching institutions in China.
Scholarship to international students
The Chinese government grant great scholarship to international students. In 2018, 63041 people from 182 countries received scholarships from the Chinese government, accounting for 12.81% of the total number.
Till September 2021, there are 3,012 higher education institutions in China mainland, among which 2,756 are regular colleges and universities, and 256 are adult colleges and universities.
Since 2000, China has successively established eight vice premier-level humanities exchange mechanisms: China-Russia (November 2000), China-US (May 2010), China-UK (April 2012), China-Europe (April 2012), China-France (September 2014), China-Indonesia (May 2015), China-South Africa (April 2017) and China-Germany (May 2017), which covers many areas such as education, science, technology, culture, health, sport, radio and television, media, film, tourism, women, youth and archives.

Chinese degree programs in majors such as engineering, science, medicine, economics and trade, MBA as well as finance are highly revered.
The academic qualifications awarded by Chinese universities are recognized by most developed countries. The Chinese government has signed an agreement on mutual recognition of academic qualifications with a number of countries including the United States, Britain, France, Japan and 52 other countries and regions.
